Students and Exchange Visitors

If you are applying for a student visa or exchange visitor visa, you do not need to make an appointment to come to the Consulate. You may come to the Consulate any Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, arriving before 11 a.m., and join the line of people waiting to enter the building to apply for visas. Please check our web site to make sure that we are open on the day you wish to come. (We are closed on both American and Mexican holidays.) Click Here for Consulate Holiday Schedule. You will need to present your Banamex receipt for the $100 interview fee.

Exchange visitors will also need to present a form IAP-66. Student visa applicant will need to present a form I-20, which is provided by the school you will be attending.

Exchange visitors and student visa applicants will need to present proof of economic solvency to demonstrate that they will be able to pay the expenses of their visit to the United States. Exchange visitors and student visa applicants will also need to demonstrate that they have sufficiently strong ties to a country other than the United States, so that they will depart the United States after their program of study or research has ended.
