Travelers with Emergencies

Although every attempt is made to ensure that all applicants get a visa appointment in a timely manner, this is not always possible. We recognize that this can create serious difficulties for those applying for visas for medical emergencies in the US or for critical business meetings.

Should you have an urgent need to travel and are unable to get an appointment that will meet your deadline, you should make the appointment for the first available time through the regular appointment system.  You can do this by calling 01-900-849-4949.

Then, please fill-in the Emergency Visa Request Form located on the U.S. Embassy’s website.

In the case of medical emergencies, a doctor's letter should accompany the email requesting an emergency interview. The doctor's letter should describe the circumstances in detail, including giving the name of the doctor and the medical facility in the U.S. where the patient will receive treatment. In the case of other emergencies, please describe the nature of the emergency in detail. Ensure that there is a contact number where the applicant can be reached.

At the time of interview, the applicant will need to qualify under U.S. law for the visa. Having an expedited visa interview does not change the requirements for obtaining a visa.

All cases will be evaluated and the time of response will vary based on individual circumstances.
