    Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens – Bus Attacks in northern Veracruz (December 22, 2011)

    Early in the morning of December 22, several vehicles, including three ordinary passenger buses, were attacked with gunfire in northern Veracruz state, resulting in several deaths. One of these buses was traveling on Highway 105 between the municipalities of Panuco and Tempoal.

    Call and Ask the Consul

    The Consulate of the United States in Matamoros in collaboration with Telemundo Channel 40 from McAllen, Texas hosted last Tuesday November 8, a five hour Telethon during which the audience was able to call and ask questions regarding the services the Consulate General offers to the general public.

    On October 24, Consul General of the United States in Matamoros Michael Barkin gave a conference to 60 students from the University Valle de Mexico, Campus Matamoros commemorating the 64th anniversary of the United Nations.

    Consulate donates books to encourage reading

    Matamoros, Tamaulipas. October 24, 2011 --- Principal Officer Michael Barkin donated 80 books by well-known American authors to Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Elementary School’s library on behalf of the U.S. Consulate in Matamoros.

    On October 1, 2011, the Consulate General of the United States in Matamoros in coordination with the City of Matamoros and the collaboration of the Museum of Brownsville and the Diego Rivera Foundation held the closing ceremony of the Workshop Binational Mural Art at the Municipal Library Juan B. Tijerina.

    The Honorable Earl Anthony Wayne presented to President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa his credentials as Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Mexican States.
